I believe dance is a universal language - anyone and everyone can dance with our moving bodies as a valuable and sacred asset. Dance is a powerful tool to bring people together, foster meaningful connection, and empower communities as a collective. For over a decade, I’ve been honored to share the gift of dance with a wide range of students, from toddler in their first year to adults 70+.
My dance style is contemporary form that is influenced by multiple genres including ballet, modern, hip-hop, african, and improvisation. I use guided improvisation as a tool to connect with our body with the space, to unlock our limitless possiblities of movements, and to discover our own voice as an individaul mover. Clarity on technique, musicality, physical and mental discipline as well as understanding of our bodily language are key elements in my teaching.
At the heart of my teaching approach is a human before dancer philosophy — prioritizing our humanness over perfecting technique as well as focusing on progress over product. We are all human before we are artists and dancers: perfectly imperfect and beautifully flawed. When we recognize that, dance becomes more than just movements; it becomes a space to share our experiences, stories, and lives.
